Inclined toward natural ingredients and resources, JAFRA embraces ecologically-friendly product formulations and strives to work with environmentally responsible companies.Formulas are created in our worldwide headquarters in Westlake Village, California, and then assembled in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Queritaro, Mexico. JAFRA's world-class Research and Development team in the United States oversees all phases of product creation and production including research, formulation, testing, and manufacturing.

Rigorous Testing
Every JAFRA formulation is extensively researched and tested - in all phases of development and manufacturing - to ensure its quality, safety, and effectiveness.Rigorous product purity, integrity, and performance testing includes year-long review by dermatologists, ophthalmologists, estheticians, pediatricians, and toxicologists at independent, reputable test laboratories in the U.S. and Europe. The Process
Strict adherence to GMP (good manufacturing practice) guidelines is mandatory. When a new formula passes scrutiny at Research and Development's quality control lab in California, it undergoes another series of tests at JAFRA's 125,000 square foot, modern manufacturing center in Queritaro, Mexico.The secure facility processes over 1,200 different ingredients in the production of some 500 products for sale worldwide - products which must meet JAFRA's high standards for excellence and effectiveness as well as the customer's needs and regulatory requirements of the international market.
Using state-of-the-art machinery and stringent quality control procedures; manufacturing experts test production batches throughout the manufacturing process. Samples are taken at the beginning, middle, and end of each production run to ensure the purity and effi cacy of the end product. Only then is a product deemed worthy of the JAFRA brand.
Always cruelty-free, no animals are used in the testing of JAFRA products.
For nearly 25 years, Pragna Chakravarti, Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President Worldwide Research and Development, has led the formulation of JAFRA products.
Under her leadership JAFRA's "simple and effective" product philosophy has broadened to include use of the newest technologies - increasing product effectiveness and JAFRA's competitiveness in the global market.
People behind the Products
Well-respected in the beauty industry, Pragna leads a dedicated and experienced Research and Development team with a strong presence in the technologically savvy arena of ingredient and test methodologies. The team, which includes biologists, chemists, toxicologists and clinicians, is also highly proficient in the use of sophisticated, precision laboratory instrumentation.Research and Development is committed to staying ahead of the technology curve and consumer trends that impact the skin care and beauty industry. Team members draw from research findings in other countries and regularly attend national and international scientific seminars, conferences, and trade shows. Many hold memberships in industry organizations including the C.T.F.A. (Cosmetic, Toiletries, and Fragrance Association), S.C.C. (Society of Cosmetic Chemist), and the I.F.S.C.C. (International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists).
